On September 9, the Solar Made in USA Event, hosted by TaiyangNews in collaboration with RE+ and EuPD Research, took place at the Anaheim Convention Center, California. This event brought together key stakeholders from the solar industry to discuss the future of U.S. solar manufacturing. As a leader in American solar manufacturing, SEG Solar (SEG) was invited to participate and share its insights on domestic manufacturing strategies.

Commitment to Localized Manufacturing

During a panel discussion on "What’s still needed to build a true local crystalline module supply chain", SEG CEO Jim Wood highlighted SEG's new facility in Houston, Texas. The decision to establish this plant in Texas reflects the state’s strong market potential and favorable business environment. Texas leads the nation in solar installations, and by 2027, it is expected to dominate the U.S. market.

Jim Wood emphasized SEG’s commitment to strengthening the local supply chain. SEG plans to work with partners to establish manufacturing facilities to ensure product quality while reducing procurement costs. This localized strategy will give SEG a competitive edge and revitalize the solar industry in Texas and across the U.S.

Driving Innovation and Quality

As solar technology rapidly evolves, SEG continues to lead through innovation. With products like N-type modules, bifacial modules, and all-black modules, SEG demonstrates strong technical leadership. According to Jim Wood, SEG's focus on innovation and flexible market strategies keeps it competitive, even among global giants. SEG is also constructing a global laboratory and testing center, equipped with cutting-edge tools, to accelerate product launches and maintain high-quality standards.

The Future of U.S. Solar Manufacturing

Looking ahead, Jim Wood predicts a significant shift in the U.S. solar manufacturing landscape as domestic supply begins to meet growing demand. By 2030, competition among solar manufacturers is expected to diversify. However, Wood stressed that the industry’s long-term success will require collaboration among all stakeholders.
